I’ve just discovered Wimi5 and I found it great! I would love to be able to use it on my android phone and tablet, but it’s not possible to drag and drop on android web browsers, so I can’t use Wimi on those devices. Are you going to develop an android/iOs compatible version?
Also I was wondering if it is possible to use Wimi5 without an internet connection, maybe as an standalone app or something like that.
Thank you!22/09/2014 at 7:35 am #5296
good question. In the beginning our objetive was to provide our editor in all devices. But we quickly realized that an editor is a too complex environment to include in small screens like smartphones. There are too many panels, windows, and complex interactions (combination of keys, combination of keys with mouse, etc.) that make it difficult to achieve a good user experience in small devices. Tablets are in the edge of being usable efficiently. For these reasons, we decided to focus on PCs (big screen sizes, keyboard and mouse). However, we know that there are users who are using WiMi5 in their laptops with touch capabilities. In the short term, we do not plan to provide a tablet version. But it fully depends on the community. If there are a big enough request to do that, we will prioritize it.
Regarding the off-line features. WiMi5 is a web application, so its assumed to be online. Nevertheless, we will include new capabilities to manage disconnections more intelligently and to work off-line until you can connect again to Internet.
We could create a native version of the platform but it will requiere also an internet connection to have all the features, and the updates will turn more difficult. If you want to have a native feel of the app you can try our Chrome Web Store version.

Seria interessante, uma versão para tablets/android, mas concordo que uma versão que funcione off-line seja mais urgente, eu mesmo só estou aguardando isso para me aprofundar no wimi5 / It would be interesting, a version for tablets / android, but I agree that a version that works offline is more urgent, even I’m just waiting for it to look deeper into the wimi5
